In June of 1977, at the time lead singer of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, spit on a fan in the middle of a concert. To be fair, the crowd had been unruly and the event had been so striking to him that it led to the release of one of the most groundbreaking concept albums that would impact music history forever. The Wall is a twenty-six-song album that tells a story about war, generational trauma, despair, sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll. It follows Pink, a famous rockstar, and his spiral into isolation and eventual insanity. While the story itself is fictional, it’s strongly based on the real events and experiences of Roger Waters and the other Pink Floyd members, most notably former headman Syd Barrett who was forced to leave the band in 1968 due to mental health and drug use concerns. Each song is written with such intricacy that you can vividly see events occurring. With this level of immersion, Waters creates a character you resent, sympathize with, and relate to, all at the same time. A ...
